I've learned my cat hates when it's dark. At my previous place there was a bright light that lit up my room at night no matter what I did. when I moved my cat would start crying at night. I noticed every time I turned the light on he would stop crying. So I went and bought a night light for my room. once I plugged in the night light he stopped crying at night.

My outdoor and sometimes indoor cat is terrified of the dark so we have to keep some type of light on at all times. He was sleeping inside one time and the power went out so he start screaming his head off. Once I got a flashlight on, he was perfectly fine. I thought it was just a fluke until it happened again and he screamed until I got a light on again and he was just fine after that. I have never heard of a cat that is afraid of the dark and he's terrified of flies as well so I really do have an odd kitty.
